A simple program to make downloading images easy
Saving images from websites is not uncommon, and it’s not very difficult to do. However, sometimes you need to save a lot of images and going through them one by one can be a tedious process. Web Gallery Downloader by ifDownload is a download manager that has been specifically designed to download galleries of pictures from websites. Is it good enough to fulfill its one job?
Easy to Setup
Actually, the Web Gallery Downloader requires no setup at all. That’s a feature that’s always a positive in my opinion since it allows users to perform the task they need without any wasted time. You just have to download the ZIP file, extract it, and run the program. The interface of the program is clean and looks professional. Before you actually get to the interface, you’ll first be taken to a dialogue box that contains links to tutorials on the developer’s website about how to save images from specific websites.
Downloading Process
It’s a great feature that the first thing you will see when you first open the program are tutorials since beginners will obviously be a bit lost. The process itself isn’t complicated. All you have to do is get the URL link of the website where the image gallery is located. In the Main Tab of the Web Gallery Downloader, paste the link onto the Enter link box and click load. You’ll be able prompted to choose between downloading images from all the pages on the website or only the first few pages. Unfortunately, you can’t choose which pages you need specifically. The images will be displayed by the program and from there, you’ll be able to save the images to disk, either individually or all of them. The program will automatically create a folder for you when you download images. The time for processing and downloading images varies depending on how many there are.
Website Support
If there is a negative aspect to this program, it’s the fact that it has a limited website support. It can support popular websites with images like Flickr and Tumblr, but that’s about it. It can’t download from other popular websites like Photobucket, ImageShack, or DeviantArt. On the other hand, it can download from a lot of adult websites, so if you need download images from those websites for whatever reason then this program will be of help to you for sure.
Easy to Use But Limited
This software is definitely extremely useful. Unfortunately, it’s held back by the extremely limited websites that it can download images from. It may be the most easy to use and uncomplicated download manager out there, but that doesn’t mean anything if you can’t download images from the websites that you actually need. All that said, if by any chance you only need to download from the few image hosting or adult websites that it can support, then there’s no reason not to use this program.
